for when your mind truly craves to be numbed

books I've been reading

since all i do these days is cook, clean, practice, workout, read books and play video games i figured i would talk about books i've read.

mostly i've been reading brain candy. that special type of fiction that requires no real thought and is mostly just a good story. i like good stories.

i read pretty randomly. eddie's cousin sharessa gives us old advance copies of books from her store and sometimes loans us books of hers that she really likes. and if i don't have something specific i want to be reading i have the stack o' books from sharessa that i just grab things from and see whether i like it.

a book i just finished is The Traveler by John Twelve Hawks.

it's one of those books that doesn't really fit a specific genre. is it a thriller? urban fantasy? science fiction?

it is reminiscent of the matrix and a really fast read. it is one of those books that makes you think you could be watching a movie. i also was intrigued by it since it had elements in it that were similar to a idea i had for another book. if i ever finish the one i'm on.

i've just started Lamb by Christopher Moore and already I'm cracking up. apparently, this is one of Re's favorite books. haven't finished it yet, but i'm definitely enjoying it so far.

and recently i finished reading What Should I Do With My Life by Po Bronson. i found it very inspirational. but it definitely isn't a guide to figuring out what YOU want to do with your life, mostly just the stories of how other people had the courage to take the risk to discover what they really wanted out of their lives. it brings comfort by showing you all the struggles people face in finding the meaning in the everyday. i liked it.

also, it was brought to my attention by a friend of mine who is a "friend" on my netflix account that i have reviewed over 700 movies. she thinks that is an absurdly large amount of movies. what do you think?

my own peculiar title?

well. it certainly is peculiar.

today is just another day amony days. many things happen. some unusual some not so unusual. i guess you could say i'm just living the daily grind.

awfully uninspiring, i know, but it is the truth.

i've read a few books the last couple weeks and i'm really excited about getting back to work on my story. but for some reason all that excitement never actually turns into me sitting down and WRITING anything.

the need to procrastinate is immensely powerful.

omg it's been awhile....

i can be a slacker sometimes...

anyway, much has happened already in 2007:

we bought a new car (new to us anyway) and said goodbye to the camry. i loved the camry and was sad to see it go. i don't have pictures yet.

i visited chi-town to see miss megs. i have oodles of pictures.

i signed up to go to school at Integrative Nutrition next year. scary.

i've started a new workout regime last week. it is still very hard to stay in the habit.

i have a solo performance at work tomorrow and my clarinet (my personal horn) cracked TWICE this week. obviously i have no time to get it fixed till after the performance. and my work instrument seems to be fine but the last time i played it regularly it consistently would stop playing entirely for no reason at all. of course now that i'm trying to figure out what's wrong with it before i play it in rehearsal next week it is behaving as if nothing was ever wrong.

but enough whining from me. things have been busy which is a change from my normal routine this time of year.

what has the month of january brought to all of you?
